The process of digitization has been gradually implemented for several years and is now entering the academic life as well. Since the beginning of the current academic semester, which is in October, higher education institutions have started issuing the first electronic versions of ID cards. These are received by both students and doctoral candidates, as well as academic teachers (ELSNA - Electronic ID Card for Academic Teachers). The new electronic versions must be signed with a qualified electronic signature.
To ensure that the issued ID card remains valid, it is necessary to include the required phrase "authorized to issue ID cards" in the application for a professional certificate in the "certificate owner" field.
According to the Regulation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the ID cards issued since October may also be stamped with an electronic seal of the university in addition to the qualified electronic signature.
The electronic seal may be used for stamping electronic ID cards issued by higher education institutions since October of this year. As a result of ongoing digitization, it is also possible to issue digital diplomas that students receive upon completion of their education.
Each diploma issued in electronic form must be signed with the electronic seal of the respective university. The document received by the student can be used in the same way as its paper counterpart. It can be used for job applications, further studies, or as verification of acquired education by other institutions.
